How to Measure Your Child's Head Size

Measuring for your child's hat size at home can save you time and will be very accurate.

To measure your child's head accurately, follow our steps:

  1. Use a flexible measuring tape for the best results. In a pinch, you can also use a string without stretch, although your results may be slightly less accurate.
  2. Take the measuring tape and wrap it gently around your child's head. Be sure that the tape is located halfway on your occipital bone, the humped part on the back of your head.
  3. Mark the exact circumference around the head, and measure a few times to ensure that you have a correct size.
  4. Tip: Don't pull the measuring tape too tightly! Your child's hat will fit around their head the same way and will be uncomfortable.
